THE BLAIR HOUSE
15 Pine Forest Drove
Siler City, NC 27344
In 1966, Mott Blair, DDS, and his wife Jane commissioned noted Chapel Hill architect Arthur Cogswell, to design their dream home. The Mott Blairs wanted an indoor-outdoor home and their design requirements included space for entertaining large groups indoors, maximum natural daylight, a provision for an indoor gardening space, a strong separation of sleeping and entertaining areas, and a preference for simple forms and horizontal lines. The home boasts over 3,600 square feet with three bedrooms, each with en-suite bath, exposed brick and original built-ins. Additional rooms include a large foyer, living room, dining room, family room, office, unfinished walk-up attic and double carport. The home is shaped like an “L” and where the two parts join is a two-story atrium with skylight.

BUTTERFLY HOUSE
412 Caswell Road

Chapel Hill, NC 27514
This classic modernist in the center of Chapel Hill is known by its new, iconic “Butterfly” roof and central courtyard. The plans for the original ranch home were drawn by the first owner, Richard Hocks, while he was a Ph.D. student at UNC-Chapel Hill. The original builder was Ed Mann. In 2011, after the home sat empty for decades, William B. Miller and Elisabeth Vermilye purchased the property and hired local architect Jay Fulkerson to revitalize the home.  The home was purchased in 2015 by the current owners who renovated much of the same structure again, and hired Fulkerson to design the two-story addition/garage and roof deck which was completed in 2017 by Newphire Builders. The design focus is on natural light and indoor-outdoor living with walls of windows and sliding doors in every common space.
